What is OHSAS 18001?

OHSAS is a set of rules that enables continuous occupational and health safety, which complies with the systems according to ISO standards.

Risk and hazard elimination

OHSAS 18001 evaluates your safety management system from different points of view. The scope of use depends on such factors as the policy of occupational health and safety organization, nature of their activities and conditions that affect these activities.

Successful safety management system should be based on the following:

  • policy of occupational health and safety – appropriate for the given company
  • identification of the occupational health and safety risks and legal requirements
  • goals, target values and programmes ensuring continuous improvement
  • control activities for occupational health and safety risks management
  • monitoring of occupational health and safety system efficiency
  • continuous review, evaluation and improvement of the system
OHSAS standard defines requirements regarding the occupational health and safety management system (OHSAS), which enable the organization to manage OHSAS risks and improve the standard of organization in this respect.
OHSAS 18001 standard is a guide how to develop OHSAS management system that helps to eliminate or minimize risks for employees in the organization and other interested parties, whose activities are connected with OHSAS risks.

Procedure for implementation of principles of OHSAS management system according to OHSAS 18001

  • identification and evaluation of all OHSAS risks

Procedure of work:
Project of development of occupational health and safety system - OHSAS - will focus on areas of possible sources of environmental pollution within all reproductive process. It will include training of employees on all levels and will respect all requirements of occupational health and safety system in the frame of OHSAS 18001, according to the company’s needs. Purpose of the project realization is to achieve compliance in assurance of the company occupational health and safety with requirements of standard OHSAS 18001 and related standards.

Main stages of the project

A. INFORMATION COURSE (for top management and work team)
  • introduction to the occupational health and safety system according to OHSAS
  • what to expect from OHSAS system in business practice
  • contents, principles and structure of standard OHSAS 18001 requirements
  • role of top management for project realization
  • OHSAS development
Extent: 1 day, in small firms is included in ist analysis
B. IST ANALYSIS
  • general review of the state of OHSAS system according to OHSAS standard in organization
  • processing of data report based on the analysis of the state of OHSAS assurance within an organization, recommendation of necessary actions to achieve compliance with appropriate standard requirements
  • specification of critical non-conformances between the existing provision of occupational health and safety and standard OHSAS 18001 requirements
  • processing of plan for development of occupational health and safety system according to OHSAS standard for the period until certification level is reached (based on analysis)
Extent: 2-3 days (+1 day for report processing)
C. CONSULTATION STAGE
  • creation of documents describing functional occupational health and safety system and subsequent implementation into practice
  • system of internal audits and corrective actions
  • determination of proposals of preventive actions
  • methodical help with realization of occupational health and safety system review carried out by management
Estimated extent of performance
  • Professional help with creation of documents describing functional system of occupational health and safety system
  • Professional help with implementation of the above mentioned occupational health and safety system into practice, according to OHSAS 18001
  • Methodical guide when carrying out internal audits
  • Professional help with corrective action realization, approx.
  • Professional help with proposals of preventive actions
  • Professional help with realization of occupational health and safety system review carried out by management
This extent of performance assumes task realization assigned by the consultant and documented in a time sheet.

Extent: according to the customer requirements in the course of the given period (recommended consultation frequency is 3x - 4x a month)
D. TRAINING OF INTERNAL AUDITORS
Upon successful completion of the training, auditors will receive personal certificates,
  • purpose of internal audits
  • requirements regarding internal auditor
  • requirements of standard OHSAS 18001
  • methodology of internal audits (preparation, process and evaluation)
  • test
Extent: 1 day – for trained auditors of quality system, 2 days for other applicants

Price and invoicing: (for item C of this offer) Price is determined for counselling, consultation and professional help
  • Hour of performance: in the extent of 800, -- CZK to 900, -- CZK + 19 % VAT
  • Travel expenses: according to valid QC rules
  • Per diem allowances and travel time are not charged
Reimbursement method
  • Introductory lecture and IST analysis - - invoicing after performance.
  • For item C of this offer invoicing after assumption of contractual obligations within 7 days, always for the past consulting month.
  • Term of payment: 14 days.
  • If the due term is repeatedly not observed for 3 times, item C will be invoiced by advanced payment.
  • Agreed performance (time sheet) shall be attached to the tax document. A representative appointed by the solver shall provide the document administration.
Assumption of contractual obligations: Assumption of contractual obligations shall be assumed by the submitter in writing on analyst’s consulting sheet (time sheet).

Analyst’s responsibility: Analyst shall secure the preparation of the occupational health and safety system according to standard OHSAS 18001 and all required documentation so that it conforms in all parts and in full extent to requirements regarding certification of occupational health and safety system according to standards OHSAS 18001. Contractor appoints a representative that shall accompany the project from the beginning to the end. Analyst is responsible for the quality of all services provided.
